How does Helioplex™ protect against sun damage?
Neutrogena sunscreens with Helioplex™ cover the total UVA/UVB spectrum by harnessing the full power of two safe, FDA-approved sunscreens, Avobenzone and Oxybenzone. This unique combination blocks UVB burning rays and helps stop UVA rays from penetrating your skin's surface layers longer than either sunscreen can by itself. The sunscreens in Helioplex™ further protect skin by absorbing and transforming UV light into a harmless form of light.

Is Helioplex™ a broad-spectrum sunscreen?
Helioplex™ technology contains two FDA approved sunscreens (Avobenzone and Oxybenzone) which provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. The added stabilizing technology within Helioplex™ permits Avobenzone to achieve its full potential by preventing it from breaking down when exposed to sunlight.

What roles do Avobenzone and Oxybenzone play in broad-spectrum protection? And are they stronger in combination than alone?
Avobenzone is one of the best UVA absorbers, while Oxybenzone is an excellent UVB absorber with some UVA absorbency. Together, with the patented Helioplex™ stabilizing technology, these two sunscreen ingredients compliment each other for high, broad-spectrum and photo-stable coverage. This means you receive photo-stable UVA protection that does not lose its effectiveness in sunlight.

Will Helioplex™ shield my skin against sunburn, damage and premature aging? And are sunburn and premature aging forms of damage?
Yes, sunscreens with Helioplex™ helps shield against all forms of sun damage, including premature aging. That includes fine lines, sagging skin, wrinkles and brown spots.

Does using sunscreens with Helioplex™ mean that I can apply sunscreen less often?
Although sunscreens stabilized with Helioplex™ provide longer lasting UVA/UVB protection, we recommend that all sunscreens—including those stabilized with Helioplex™—be reapplied after swimming, excessive perspiration, towel drying or extended sun exposure.

Have Neutrogena® sunscreens stabilized with Helioplex™ been recognized or endorsed for their ability to minimize or prevent skin cancer?
No sunscreen is clinically proven to minimize or prevent skin cancer. However, dermatologists have long-recognized that UVB and UVA rays promote the risk of skin cancer. Sunscreens stabilized with Helioplex™ screen a significant portion of both UVA and UVB rays.
