Skin Care for Men

Wash it All Away

Even though a man’s skin may seem tougher than a woman’s, the skin on his face is sensitive and it’s important that it’s treated right. Follow these easy tips for an effective face wash:

  1. Wash your hands before washing your face to prevent adding extra dirt, grime and oil to your skin.
  2. Wash your face with warm water to help open up pores. Make sure the water isn’t too hot, or it will dry out the skin.
  3. Cleanse your face with specially-formulated facial cleansers for men. Look for products that are oil-free to prevent clogging of pores.
  4. Rinse your face thoroughly with cool water to remove all cleanser residues before drying.

Control Breakouts

Shaving is an easy task that most men perform every day. However, there are simple tricks to ensuring a close shave. Follow these tips to get yours:

  1. Wet your face with warm water, or shave after a hot shower.
  2. Be sure to use a shaving cream that contains glycerin. One of the leading causes of razor burn is poor lubrication.
  3. Make sure your razor blade is always sharp. Hold the area to be shaved with your free hand and gently glide the razor over your face with the grain of your hair. Rinse the razor often.
  4. Rinse face with cool water and gently dry it before applying an alcohol-free aftershave balm.

It Takes More Than Moisturizing

A man’s skin is tough, but not so tough that it doesn’t need a little protection too. This important, final step in a man’s skin care routine helps keep skin well-moisturized, protected from the sun and more. Follow these tips to protect your skin:

  1. Dead cells accumulate on the skin’s surface, dulling its appearance. To remove these cells, exfoliate your skin with a cleanser, especially before shaving.
  2. After cleansing and shaving, apply a moisturizer to help protect and hydrate skin.
  3. Reduce exposure to damaging UV rays, which can lead to fine lines, hyperpigmentation and skin cancer. Use a daily sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher.
