Rated 2.0 out of 5.0Â by Duckymom I just got a rash too!
I usually use the ultra sheer dry touch sunscreens but recently used this because I was putting it on my three year old. Within two days I also broke out in a bright red, raised, goose-bump like rash. It has lasted a week and is just now going away! I will not put this on myself again and I just might switch to another brand for my daughter. Seems like the product has changed in the past two years. I never had this reaction before.. Two stars because my daughter didn't react to it this time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Fair in Boston Great nonchemical sunscreen
I've been using Neutrogena's Ultrasheer Dry Touch for years, but sadly have begun to get sunspots over the past year or two as I've used the 70 SPF version religiously every day. After doing some research, I realized chemical sunscreens can actually cause them (called photosensitization). So I've switched to this, which has only "physical" sunblock ingredients that do not lead to photosensitization or spots. Hoping for no new dark spots this year!
The dry touch finish is the best of any sunscreen I've ever used, and I'm sad to leave it--it literally made my skin look matte and feel perfect all day, without powder. This isn't quite as nice, but it's still a great deal better than other physical sunblocks I've tried from even fancier brands--it leaves my skin soft but moist and nonoily all day, and after a bit of powder doesn't feel tacky or sticky at all.
I have very sensitive skin and have not experienced a reaction to this; I've used it for about a week. Hopefully Neutrogena clears that up! Removing the photosensitizing ingredients from the Dry Touch formulation (some sunscreens are supposed to be worse than others) would also be a good idea. In the meantime, I'm happy with this and with knowing I'm no longer doing potential damage to my skin!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0Â by suzcal1 My son now gets rashes from the sunscreen
I am long time supporter of Neutrogena as it has always worked wonders with my skin, including the sunscreens. When my son was born, I of course choose Neutrogena's baby sunscreen. It has worked until he was 15 months. We have taken beach vacations twice in the past year and both times (15 months and 2 years old), within 3 days of using the Pure and Free Baby Sunscreen, my has broken out into pimply bright red rashes. In speaking to many of the mothers that are having the same problem, we think your product is reacting to the chlorine in the pools. When my son is in the ocean, we do not see any reaction. It does take continued use over several days before the rash develops. Please look into this as this seems to be more of a problem than just what my son is experiencing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by anonymous great sunscreen
I have very sensitive skin and break out from many differnet products. I bought this sunscreen last year after doing some research. I can say that it works great and it had not caused any irritations for me, like some other people have experienced in the reviews. The product is a bit thick, and takes a minute to apply evenly, but the covereage is very good and it is great protection from the sun.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 both my boys experienced rashes
My 4 and 8 year-old sons experienced rashes on their back and neck about 6 hours after application (second day of use). Neither boy had evidence of sunburn, and the day was cloudy and cool.

We wanted to find a sunscreen with zinc instead of chemicals. We gave this a try. Paid a lot more than other sunblocks and my daughter got a bad rash. Now looking at the reviews it appears we are not alone. It is a bit surprising that Neutrogena is still selling this product in light of the rash problem.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by PaleSummer The ONLY Sunscreen Our Children Will Use
I was shocked by the low rating, so I had to add my two cents. When we first started having children, we kept them sheltered from the sun as much as possible and even use clothing with a UPF 50+ and hats of course. Keeping them free from sun damage until they are 18 is a responsibility we take seriously and we scoured the market looking for the right product to protect their delicate skin. I tried this one bc the price was lower than the competitors boasting natural ingredients and it came in a pack that included the lotion, lip balm, and facial stick, which was a great way to start with a baby (our children have extremely sensitive skin and we have to be careful which soaps they wash with and which detergents we use for their clothing). Having sensory issues, I cannot stand the "sunscreen smell" either, so I use it as well w amazing results. When we go to the beach and come back paler than when we left, I consider it a win. I am hoping that Neutrogena creates this product in a spray form now that the babies are toddlers as it wd be much easier to re-apply to their legs and arms.
