My dermatologist recommended this product while on Acutane. I needed something to cleanse my face but that would not dry it out. However, the minute I put it on my face, I feel a hot, burning sensation until I rinse it off. Maybe it is because of the cetearyl alcohol? I was surprised to see this listed as one of the main ingredients since it is supposed to be "Ultra Gentle". I will say that my skin does feel clean and soft after I rinse it off.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by vfluttershy Really moisturizes and cleans!
I've switched between cleansers all my life. I've tried Cetaphil, Mary Kay, AcneFree, and other Neutrogena washes. I had horrible acne for a while with really greasy skin and I was using the Fresh Foaming Cleanser recommended by my dermatologist. I loved it! It cleaned and was gentle for my reddened, inflamed skin. However, after my Acutane treatment my facial skin started to match the skin type of the rest of my body and became normal/dry, but still sensitive. I found this cleanser in the store and new I needed to try it. I've since been in love and I don't think I'll switch to anything else. It's gentle, moisturizing, removes makeup and dirt, and leaves my skin smooth and clean.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by JenMo2002 My daughter is happy!
I've tried Aveeno, acne creams, and so on. This Neutrogena Cleanser has been amazing in such a short time. My 12 year old has been using it for 4 days now, and we both see a huge difference. Her skin is no longer, rough to touch, redness is going away and her skin over all looks fabulous. I've FINALLY have found something that's safe for her skin. We recommend trying this product.

Gentle, clean, and effective, I found I liked this cleanser. It made my skin super soft after the first use, and it's been that way ever since.

I generally love the neutrogena products and I have owned several different products along the years...recently I discovered this particular product and bought it because it helps control oily skin but it also helps my eczema not to flair up because it doesn't completely strip my face of moisture. Now, this was great for a bit and then it stopped working...my face gets super oily and when I wash it my face doesn't become completely clean...the area around my nose in particular seems to remain oily after rinsing my face...I have breakouts on my face that are not going away either now...*sigh*....Not sure what to try next.

I have been dealing with perioral dermatitis and facial keratosis pilaris (chicken skin that USUALLY affects the back of peoples arms) for the last 6 or 7 months. I have been through so many cleansers made for "sensitive skin" and they seem to irritate my skin and cause flare-ups of both conditions and drying out my skin horribly. Them i found this product and it has been a god-send. It does not dry it out or irritate it leaves it so that I do not need a moisturizer at night (moisturizer is a no-no with PD). I cn't thank Neutrogena enough for this product. It works just as well, if not better, than Cetaphil but without the parabens and SLS. As to peoples complaints that it burned their skin...i noticed it a bit when I first started using it. But then I started working the product with my fingertips in a circular motion prior to applying it to my face starting from the forehead down and it gets a slight lather going. then work it down onto my nose and cheeks. After that, the burning sensation subsided.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0Â by MdB79 Fires of Hades
I have dry, sensitive, acne prone skin that I am treating with Retin-A gel. I use the gel only at night so as to minimize side effects. I have used this cleanser on 3 separate mornings and each time my face burned like crazy. Fires of Hades is an accurate description. Very disappointing, as I have never had a problem with Neutrogena cleansers before -- with or without Retin-A. I would like to try the foaming version, but I am hesitant. I purchased this from Target and hope I can exchange it for something else. :-/
