Introducing Neutrogena Studios – A New Way to Inspire Skin Health

What do you get when you combine science, skincare savvy and the silver screen? We’ve been waiting to spill the tea! The answer is a little something we like to call Neutrogena Studios, the first-ever brand-funded content studio from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. We believe that beauty begins with healthy skin. And we’re working relentlessly to ensure that we help create a world where skin isn’t a barrier to unlocking what’s best for you.

We’re super proud and humbled to be your trusted skin health expert. *blush* That’s why we want to continue offering the education, beauty inspiration and science-backed skincare to help you achieve your best skin ever.

This is where Neutrogena Studios comes in. What better way to do this than through storytelling and entertainment? (We can’t think of one.) To kick it all off, we’re debuting our first documentary called “In the Sun” to ignite conversations about skin health and sun safety for all. “In the Sun” was championed by the inimitable Emmy award-winning actress and Neutrogena® brand ambassador Kerry Washington who served as executive producer.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more people in the U.S. are diagnosed with skin cancer each year than all other cancers combined. There’s never been a better time to help you preserve and protect your skin. “In the Sun” offers an intimate look at the personal skin health journeys of seven families. Each family faces extraordinary circumstances as they uncover the effects of living vibrant lives in the sun. The documentary was filmed with the mission to dispel common misconceptions about skin health through real stories that cross generational, racial and gender barriers. Expert Los Angeles-based dermatologist Dr. Shirley Chi helped lead the film’s development. Keep your eyes peeled for more details coming soon (hint: Tribeca Film Festival).

In the meantime, here’s a quick peek at what you can expect from Neutrogena® Studios.

What Will Neutrogena Studios Produce?

We don’t want to reveal all our secrets at once. But, you can definitely expect to see feature documentaries and scripted short films. We have a brilliant Board of Advisors that will help guide the creation of this new (and exciting!) content.

Who’s on the Board of Advisors?

The Board is made up of experts in a range of categories including brand, beauty, skin health and science, behavioral health and science, entertainment, film and retail. Members bring diverse perspectives, backgrounds and insights to each project that we pursue.

Is Neutrogena Studios Partnering with Anyone?

We’re linking up with the Ghetto Film School to create the Neutrogena Studios: First Frame program to produce short films with up-and-coming Gen Z creators. We’re also working on plans to launch a School Screening Program so that more students get the skin health education that they deserve.

What’s the First Frame Program?

This program aims to cultivate the next generation of diverse filmmakers and support them in their aspirations to create cutting-edge skin health content for Neutrogena Studios. Gen Z, we’re looking at you! This transformative experience will afford two selected young filmmakers the opportunity to receive virtual mentorship as they see their short film idea from script to screen. Think funding, story workshopping, scriptwriting and more over an eight-month time period.

Where Can I Find Neutrogena Studios Content?

‘In the Sun’ will be available to watch on demand on April 27th. To learn more about the film, visit www.inthesunfilm.com. For up-to-date information on Neutrogena Studios, visit www.neutrogena.com/studios.
